When we first conceived the idea for Running the Standard there was one bike brand that came to mind. One brand that is known for quality, performance, style and, above all, being British. I am delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Triumph Motorcycles!

This is truly a dream come true for all of us here at Running the Standard. I can admit that before we had this fantastic news confirmed it felt like we were ‘just planning’ an event, then there was that moment of realisation that this is actually going to happen!

Now I have announced that Triumph are on-board I thought it would be a great idea to share my favourite Triumph moment: I work for a Triumph Dealership (Bridge Motorcycles in Exeter) and I am used to working with every aspect of the Triumph brand, from marketing to the bikes themselves, and once a year we have a Triumph external event where we hire the Triumph Truck and head out to a bike show.

In 2019, whilst booking the Truck for the BMAD Festival in Paignton, I cheekily asked if there was anything special we could have on the truck to wow the crowds. The phrase ‘if you don’t ask you don’t get; came to mind - and (sometimes) if you ask you shall receive. Two words stood out to me from the email I received back: Moto2 Prototype.

Just having a prototype machine on the stand was enough but we were allowed to turn it on! There had to be a designated person from Bridge that would be in charge of this. Well can you guess whose name went down on the paperwork! 😊

I cannot describe how amazing and intense it felt. The moment just before pushing the start button each time knowing what was about to happen felt electric. Once the bike was started it was a blend of noise, vibrations and pure emotion. I have since watched these bikes at the Silverstone GP and still can’t believe that I got to start a piece of what is bound to be motorcycle racing history.
